Pakistan seize control against West Indies

Misbah-ul-Haq missed out on a century but the Pakistan captain still saw his team take a firm grip of the second Test against the West Indies on day two.

Misbah and Younis Khan put on 175 on day one before the latter fell for 127, with Misbah unbeaten on 90 at stumps.

He added only a further six on the second morning, but Sarfraz Ahmed's half-century led Pakistan to 452 before the tourists slipped to 106 for four in reply.

Shannon Gabriel won an early lbw appeal against Misbah, upheld on review with the ball just clipping leg stump, for his third wicket en route to figures of five for 96.

Yasir Shah pulled Jason Holder straight to backward square leg, but Sarfraz scored briskly and was well supported by Mohammad Nawaz. The pair put on 70 before Sarfraz was yorked by Gabriel for 56 from 59 balls.

Nawaz made 25 and Sohail Khan 26 before both falling to Holder (three for 47), and Zulfiqar Babar edged Gabriel to wicketkeeper Shai Hope to end the innings.

Some late inswing from Rahat Ali accounted for the Windies' first wicket, Leon Johnson trapped plumb in front for 12.

Darren Bravo made 43 before he misjudged a pull at leg-spinner Yasir Shah and was given out lbw after a Pakistan review.

That was 65 for two and it looked as though Kraigg Brathwaite and Marlon Samuels would see their side through to the close - until a dramatic finish.

The pair put on 40 before Samuels, on 30, swung loosely at Rahat and fenced the ball to Sami Aslam at slip.

That brought in Devendra Bishoo as a nightwatchman - but still Jermaine Blackwood was required to play out the final four balls of the day, after Brathwaite set off for a single but was sent back by Bishoo and run out by Misbah's throw.
