Surrey have named a television commentary box at the Kia Oval after the late Richie Benaud.

The widely-admired former Australia captain, journalist and broadcaster died in April at the age of 84.

His widow Daphne attended day one of the fifth Ashes Test at the ground and was invited to formally open the Richie Benaud Commentary Box at the start of the evening session.

She was also on hand to see a video tribute played on the ground's big screens during the tea break, with the sold-out crowd rising to applaud.

Benaud's last commentary stint in England came at The Oval in the final match of the 2005 Ashes.
