Mustafizur Rahman's season with Sussex may be over - after just two matches.

The 20-year-old Bangladesh left-armer, initially due to join Sussex for their full Royal London One-Day Cup and NatWest T20 Blast campaigns, is to have scans on a shoulder injury having only arrived in time to play his first match away to Essex last week.

He took four for 23 in that debut fixture which Sussex won at Chelmsford but, after a second Blast match against Surrey at The Oval, he was not fit to face Gloucestershire.

Sussex announced on Wednesday that he will be unable to play in any of the forthcoming Blast or One-Day Cup group matches.

The statement added: "Under the direction of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, (he) is due to have a scan this week to ascertain whether or not he will be fit enough to play in any knockout matches should Sussex qualify for the latter stages of either competition.

"It is hoped that there is a possibility of him returning to Hove in the future."
