New Zealand left-arm paceman Mitchell McClenaghan will join Middlesex for the second half of their NatWest T20 Blast campaign.

McClenaghan, currently representing the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, will link up with the county at the end of next month and could make his debut against Sussex at Lord's on July 2.

He will be available for their final six group matches and is an overseas replacement for South African seamer Kyle Abbott, whose spell with the club expires at the end of June.

Middlesex's managing director of cricket Angus Fraser said: "Replacing one high quality overseas fast bowler with another was not easy but we have managed to do this with the signing of McClenaghan.

"Mitchell's style, left-arm fast, gives him a point of difference and his skill has allowed him to take wickets wherever he has played."

McClenaghan, 28, has played 35 one-dayers and 16 Twenty20 internationals for New Zealand although he only played one match in the Black Caps' run to the World Cup final earlier this year.

He has excelled in the IPL, though, taking 14 wickets in his 10 matches, and he is now looking forward to his next challenge.

"It's every player's dream to play at Lord's and I am delighted to have the opportunity to do so wearing a Middlesex shirt," he said.
