Lancashire tweet riles Gillespie

Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie has accused Lancashire of a lack of respect after their NatWest T20 Blast Roses win on Friday, warning it could "bite them on the ass".

A record-breaking game at Old Trafford went the hosts' way after they hit 231 for four and restricted Yorkshire to 202 for eight in reply.

It was their second win over their rivals in the short format this season, and they celebrated with a provocative tweet.

The post on their official account read: " .@Yorkshireccc Can we play you every week? #Double #GameofRoses #EducatingYorkshire #RedRose"

It predictably prompted a flurry of responses, many from annoyed Yorkshire fans - before coach Gillespie surprisingly had his say directly.

The Australian, who was linked with the England head coaching role that eventually went to his compatriot Trevor Bayliss, wrote: "WOW! Interesting tweet. This game has a way of biting you on the ass if you don't respect it.

"Well done on the win."

Lancashire deleted the original tweet shortly afterwards.
