Lancashire have tied up in-form batsman Karl Brown to a long-term contract, the details of which have not been revealed.

Brown has averaged 52.58 from nine LV= County Championship Division Two matches this year, with six half-centuries and one hundred, to help the Red Rose close in on promotion.

The 27-year-old has also contributed three half-centuries in Lancashire's run to Finals Day of the NatWest T20 Blast this weekend.

He said: "It was always my dream to play for my county and I am pleased to have been able to commit my future to Lancashire."

Lancashire cricket director and head coach Ashley Giles added: "Since coming into the side earlier in the year, he has become one of our most consistent performers with the bat.

"Karl is another important player who has come up through the Lancashire system and he very much represents the future of the club."
