Chris Jordan blasted an unbeaten 56 off just 34 balls to steer Sussex to a one-wicket win over Warwickshire in the LV= County Championship Division One contest at Hove.

The England all-rounder hit eight fours and two sixes, the second of which sealed a victory that had looked highly improbable when Sussex were 45 for five and chasing 190 to win.

But Ben Brown, with 53 from 61 balls, gave them hope and Jordan produced an eye-catching display of clean hitting to seal victory.

Paul Collingwood, on his 39th birthday, struck a 31st first-class century as Durham moved within sight of a victory at Worcester which will take them top of the standings.

Durham, who have seven wickets in hand, will hope to rattle off the remaining 48 runs required for victory swiftly on Wednesday.

Set a target of 318, Durham were 270 for three at stumps, with captain Collingwood unbeaten on 111.

Keaton Jennings (61) and Michael Richardson (41 not out) offered assistance.

Somerset will hope to get the remaining five Yorkshire wickets quickly on day four after enjoying the better of Wednesday's play at Taunton.

The hosts trail by 124 runs after Somerset rallied in their first innings, with twins Jamie and Craig Overton producing a last-wicket stand of 76 off 35 balls.

The pair came together at 409 for nine when Tom Cooper fell one short of a century.

Jamie smashed an 18-ball half-century, with seven fours and three sixes, while Craig finished 31 not out, with six fours, in a total of 485. Steven Patterson claimed five for 70.

That gave Somerset an unlikely lead of 47 and soon Craig Overton was piling on the pressure with the ball, claiming three for 21 as Yorkshire slipped to 117 for five before closing on 171 for five.

In Division Two, Surrey were well positioned entering the final day of their match with Kent.

Surrey required another 151 runs with nine wickets remaining after reaching 44 for one at stumps.

Zafar Ansari took three wickets in four balls in a Kent second-innings collapse, from 97 for two to 204 all out. Joe Denly top-scored with 66.

Ansari finished with four for 58, Gareth Batty took three for 40 and fast bowler Matt Dunn claimed three for 61.

Rory Burns was 29 not out at the close, with Ansari (10) the batsman to fall.

Lancashire were entering the final day of their match with Derbyshire looking to seal victory.

Derbyshire trailed by 58 runs with seven wickets remaining after Lancashire's mammoth first innings of 551.

Having conceded a first-innings lead of 181, the visitors were 123 for three at the close, having lost both Ben Slater for 58 and Chesney Hughes for 41 in the final two overs of the day.

Arron Lilley dismissed Slater, who had made his fifth half-century in his last eight innings, while Simon Kerrigan claimed Hughes' scalp.
