James Taylor has posted a picture of himself outside of the hospital where he has been treated for the heart condition which ended his professional cricket career.

Taylor announced last week, via his club Nottinghamshire, that he was retiring at the age of 26 because of the rare and serious heart condition arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC).

The former England batsman, who played the last of his seven Tests at Centurion three months ago as Alastair Cook's team concluded their series victory over South Africa, has spent the past two weeks being treated in hospital.

On Thursday, he tweeted a photo of himself outside the building, adding: "Well that has been one hell of an experience! What a beautiful day."

Taylor was admitted to hospital, initially for tests, after feeling unwell during Nottinghamshire's match against Cambridge MCCU at Fenner's.

He has kept his Twitter followers up to date with his progress with a series of posts and pictures from his hospital bed and surroundings.
