Papua New Guinea beat Ireland by 11 runs in the third and final Twenty20 international at Townsville.

Ireland had already wrapped up the series after tasting victory in their previous two encounters, but after reaching 116 on Tuesday, Papua New Guinea limited their opponents to 105 to claim a consolation win.

Sese Bau and Charles Amini impressed as Papua New Guinea finished on 116 for eight, with Bau hitting 25 runs off 22 deliveries as Tim Murtagh took three for 23.

Niall O'Brien (27) and Gary Wilson (15), who was captaining his side on his 200th appearance, led Ireland's chase but they were unable to prevent Papua New Guinea from securing the win as Chad Soper took three for 13 and Amini followed his innings of 24 with two for 13.
