The West Indies suffered a psychological blow in their massive World Cup run chase with Chris Gayle out for three in the second over against South Africa in Sydney on Friday.
Gayle, who hit a World Cup record 215 with 16 sixes in his previous knock against Zimbabwe, only lasted four balls this time.
The West Indies face chasing a 409 target after AB de Villiers slammed an unbeaten 162 off 66 balls.
