England Lions held their nerve under new captain Nick Gubbins to win the final one-day international against United Arab Emirates by 16 runs and wrap up a 3-0 series success.

The Lions, led by Gubbins following Keaton Jennings' departure to join the England Test squad in India, had to withstand a home fightback from 31-year-old international debutant Adnan Mufti in Dubai.

Pakistan-born Mufti finished with a List A career-best 69 from 80 balls at number seven but was last out at the start of the 49th over, short of his ground attempting a second into the leg-side as he and number 11 Qadeer Ahmed tried to scramble the remaining runs required.

UAE were 207 all out, in pursuit of 223 for eight, having been 98 for six at one stage as Middlesex off-spinner Ollie Rayner and Somerset seamer Craig Overton took three for 27 and three for 29 respectively.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Joe Clarke earlier top-scored with 42 as the Lions had to bat deep to set a winning total, after being put in.

Seamer Qadeer took three for 48, but Clarke shared a fourth-wicket stand of 65 with Liam Livingstone - and Sam Curran's 40 from number seven was crucial too as the top nine all reached double-figures.
