England and Bangladesh heading for thrilling finish in first Test

England will be seeking to wrap up the two wickets they need to begin their winter tour of the subcontinent on the right note while Bangladesh require just 33 runs to claim a maiden Test win over their opponents in Chittagong.

This is the first of seven Tests England will play before Christmas, with five to follow in India after another match in Dhaka which gets under way later this week, and the tourists will want to avoid a morale-crushing loss.

Sabbir Rahman is the dangerman on 59 not out overnight and it is on his shoulders a nation's hopes rest on the final morning.

Bangladesh are chasing just their eighth victory in 94 Tests and first over England, who have won all eight of their previous matches in this format.

Bangladesh's previous wins have come twice against an under-strength West Indies and five times over lowly Zimbabwe, while this is their first Test in nearly 15 months.

For those reasons, an England defeat, on paper, may be regarded as embarrassing but Bangladesh have taken giant strides in recent years and have played their part in an absorbing Test which will provide, fittingly, a thrilling climax.
