Bangladesh warm up for England series by seeing off Afghanistan

Bangladesh sent a warning to England as they thrashed Afghanistan for their 100th one-day international victory in the series decider in Dhaka.

England have already arrived at the Bangladeshi capital ahead of the three-match ODI series, which begins next Friday, and the Tigers proved they will be stern opposition after crushing their minnow opponents by 141 runs in this day-night match.

The teams had taken one win each in a nip-and-tuck series but this time Tamim Iqbal's run-a-ball 118, with 11 fours and two sixes, put Bangladesh on the front foot after they decided to bat first.

He shared in a second-wicket stand of 140 alongside Sabbir Rahman (65) and although the hosts fell away once both batsmen were dismissed, a total of 279 for eight proved more than enough.

Batting under lights, Afghanistan lost wickets at regular intervals and were all out for a paltry 138 with more than 16 overs remaining. Mosharraf Hossain was the pick of the bowlers with three for 24 and Taskin Ahmed chipped in with a couple of wickets.
