A Mongoose cricket bat
Sport.co.uk have teamed up with Mongoose to give away one of their revolutionary MMi3 Mongoose cricket bats.
The revolutionary Mongoose MMi3 blasted its way into the IPL back in March as Chennai Super Kings opening batsman Matthew Hayden scored an awesome 74 runs off 34 balls, including five fours and seven sixes with the bat. Hayden called for the Mongoose nine balls into his innings having been on 19, to finish with 93 runs.

Hayden scored 15 runs from his first over with the short bladed Mongoose, including three fours and a magnificent straight six, which sailed over bowler, Rajat Bhatia’s head. His innings finally came to an end when a flighted Amit Mishra delivery was caught by Tillakaratne Dilshan out at the long-on boundary. It was enough though to put the Super Kings into a commanding position, from which they went on to win by 5 wickets.
Speaking after his innings Matthew Hayden enthused, ‘After the Mongoose media frenzy which we have had in India since last week’s launch, I was really happy to be seeing the ball well enough to be able to call for the Goose and give it its first outing in the IPL. Some of the power it gave me in my shots just shows what an impact it can have on world cricket. I was able to smash the ball easily into the crowds which really got them going, it was great fun! I look forward to bringing it out again to entertain once more!’
Chennai Super Kings stand in captain Suresh Raina was the second player to wield the short blade Mongoose during the match, as he partnered Hayden in a 78 run partnership scoring 49 not out off 34 balls.

Watching from the grandstands was the Mongoose’s inventor, Marcus Codrington Fernandez who commented: ‘Matthew used the bat exactly how it is meant to be used. He didn't try to hit the ball too hard, he just allowed the increased bat speed of the Mongoose to strike the ball with ferocity and then see the ball soar high over the boundary rope.’
‘It was thrilling to see Suresh Raina walk out to the crease with a Mongoose. He'd only used the bat for the first time yesterday for half an hour in the nets, but was soon hooked on the power it can add to a player's game. Suresh is one of the classiest players in India, and undoubtedly a superstar in the making.’
