Sport.co.uk have teamed up with Vision Sports Publishing to give away 5 copies of “Happy Birthday Dear Celtic: The Inside Story of the Hoops’ Momentous Centenary Season.” For a club steeped in history like perhaps no other, Celtic’s centenary season was always going to be notable. But to achieve a glorious league and cup double against all the odds, just as Rangers began to splash the cash under Graeme Souness, made 1987/88 one of the Hoops’ most memorable ever.
In Happy Birthday Dear Celtic, lifetime Celtic supporter and Radio 4 journalist Douglas Beattie has tracked down the Celtic team of ’88 to reveal the inside story of this thrilling and unexpectedly glorious period in the club’s history. Not just the exhilarating football, but the training ground pranks, the dressing room rows and the big nights out.
Discover exactly what went on during the infamous derby match of October 1987 which saw four players, including Frank McAvennie, end up in court, and find out how the Celtic man got his revenge six months later. What did McAvennie say to controversial PM Margaret Thatcher before the Scottish Cup final, exactly what happens when you throw a meat pie at the wall of the away dressing room at Ibrox, and which four players went out on an all night bender two days before a big game in the mistaken belief that they’d won the league?
With a list of interviewees including Roy Aitken, Pat Bonner, Mick McCarthy, Peter Grant, Billy Stark, Joe Miller, Andy Walker and Frank McAvennie – not to mention manager Billy McNeill and chairman Jack McGinn – Happy Birthday Dear Celtic is a wonderfully revealing account of an incredible season and a brilliant recollection of a long gone but fondly remembered chapter in Celtic’s rich history.
TO WIN A COPY SIMPLY ANSWER THE FOLLOWING THE QUESTION:
WHAT IS THE NAME OF CELTIC’S HOME GROUND?

Douglas Beattie has watched and supported Celtic at home and abroad since the early 1980s. He was lucky enough to witness almost every game in the club’s remarkable centenary season. These days he is a BBC journalist principally with Radio 4. He has also worked for radio Five Live, Scottish Television, the UK Press Association and has written about football, politics and news for numerous publications and websites. Though exiled in London, Celtic remains a consuming passion.
