THE CRIBS - ‘IGNORE THE IGNORANT’
WIN COPIES OF THE ALBUM OF THE MOMENT!
SPORT.CO.UK HAVE TEN TO GIVE AWAY...
Everyone is talking about The Cribs and why? Because right now they are bigger than The Beatles (see the album chart if you don’t believe us), plus erstwhile Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr is a new full time band member and they have produced a truly magnificent album.
The brothers Jarman, well used to proving the sceptics and critics wrong - have again side stepped the norm brought in a new guitarist and upped the anti - and spent the past eighteen months writing, road testing and recording the tracks that make up ‘Ignore The Ignorant’.
Recorded at Seedy Underbelly studios, Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles under the experienced guidance of Nick Launay (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, PiL, Arcade Fire) the album witnesses a band at the peak of their collective brilliance be it, the beguiling beauty of ‘City Of Bugs’, the link to their past with Hari Kari via the sweeping majestic intro of ‘Last Year’s Snow’.
Meanwhile, the almost finale-like polemic of ‘Victim Of Mass Destruction’ - encapsulates much of what The Cribs are and certainly lives up to expectations for those who were lucky enough to see the live version at last year’s Reading festival, or indeed basking in the guitar swathed glory of ‘Nothing’ shows a band no less passionate than on previous excursions. The Cribs it could be said have come of age and on this evidence there’s no argument…
‘Ignore The Ignorant’ is out now on Wichita Recordings and will be available on Standard CD, CD/ DVD Limited edition, 2CD/DVD ‘Roses edition’ Boxset exclusive to the regions of Yorkshire, Lancashire & Portland, 12” vinyl and digital.
