Krasniqi taunts Cleverly by presenting world champion with skirt

Robin Krasniqi attempted to light the blue touchpaper ahead of his fight with Nathan Cleverly - by presenting him with a skirt.

The German finally gets his shot at the WBO light-heavyweight champion at Wembley Arena on Saturday after a string of postponements.

But he failed to rile the Welshman after handing over a black skirt emblazoned with 'The Princess' as the pair went head to head.

Accepting the gift graciously, Cleverly said: 'Maybe I'll wear it in the ring on Saturday. It will look bad on him when a guy in a skirt has beaten him.'

The 26-year-old maths graduate returns to action for the first time since October as he takes on the first of two mandatory challengers.

Juergen Braehmer is also lying in wait before Cleverly can set his sights on a unification clash with American legend Bernard Hopkins.

'This fight is massive because as a world champion, you’ve got to fight these mandatory challengers,' he said. 'These fighters are hungry and they're coming to rip this title from me.

'It's important not to look too far ahead. There is talk of unification fights but I've got to deal with this guy. He's a good fighter and I've prepared for that.

'When I'm prepared physically and mentally there's no way he can beat me.

'This is going to be a good fight. Myself, I'm an undefeated fighter who comes to fight and Robin Krasniqi is an assertive fighter who likes to fight. I’m ready for war.

'I know this guy is hungry and confident and he'll do anything to take this belt. It's something I cant allow to happen.'

Krasniqi, 26, has won his lat 38 fights and is determined to take full advantage of his shot at glory.

'I am not coming here for holidays; I am coming here to win this title,' he said.

'When I come back [to London] I will say April 20 will be the day I won the war.

'I have a lot of respect for Nathan, he is the world champion on one hand but on the other I will fly back to Germany with the belt.

'It looked like they didn’t want this fight but it is here and nobody can escape.'

Meanwhile, heavyweight Dereck Chisora is looking forward to making his return to Wembley when he takes on Argentine Hector Alfredo Avila.

'I lost my first fight at Wembley [to Tyson Fury] and won my first fight at Wembley [against Istvan Kecskes] so it’s a good place for a comeback,' he said.

'Me and Don [Charles, his trainer] have been working hard. I've been training since last December; I can't wait.'
