Groves involved in accident

George Groves' promoters have confirmed the British super-middleweight was involved in a "minor training incident" on Monday after beginning preparations for his world title contest against Badou Jack later this year.

The Londoner, mandatory challenger for Jack's WBC crown at 168lbs, was reportedly involved in a boating accident.

However, the clash against American Jack, set to be staged in either August or September, will not be affected by Monday's events, according to Groves' handlers.

"Can confirm that @StGeorgeGroves been involved in minor training incident 2day. Does NOT affect his World Championship challenge," said Kalle and Nisse Sauerland on Twitter.

Groves will be bidding to be crowned world champion at the third attempt this year, having suffered stoppage defeats to compatriot Carl Froch in his previous tilts.

The 27-year-old rebounded from those back-to-back defeats by outpointing Christopher Rebrasse in September last year for the European super-middleweight title while he knocked out lightly-regarded American Denis Douglin in his last outing last November.
