Boxer Anthony Crolla will again bid to win the WBA title against Darleys Perez

Anthony Crolla has been given the chance to avenge his draw with WBA lightweight champion Darleys Perez after it was announced there would be a rematch between the pair later this year.

Crolla appeared to have done enough to defeat Perez in their first bout last month at the Manchester Arena after the Colombian was docked two points for frequent low blows in a close fight.

However, the 28-year-old Crolla was frustrated by the judges as the encounter was scored a controversial majority draw, ensuring Perez kept hold of his crown by the skin of his teeth.

But Crolla has now been given another opportunity to land his first world crown, with he and Perez set to do battle at the same venue on November 21.

Crolla's promoter Eddie Hearn said: "I'm so pleased for Anthony that he gets another bite of the cherry on November 21 in his home city.

"I haven't found anyone yet who didn't feel that he won the first fight but that's in the past now and he has to make this count.

"I feel like he is destined to win a world title and on November 21 on a huge night for Manchester and British boxing, I truly believe his dreams will come true."

The Perez bout was Crolla's first since suffering a fractured skull, concussion and a broken ankle after being hit with a concrete block when confronting burglars who had entered a neighbour's property last December.
