Amir Khan admits nerves could be a problem for his brother

Amir Khan accepts that he may have to battle his nerves when younger brother Haroon makes his professional debut on the undercard of his fight with Julio Diaz, even though he is confident in him succeeding.

Haroon Khan is scheduled to fight Stefan Slavchev at Sheffield's Motorpoint Arena on April 27 on the same evening that Diaz challenges the elder brother but while Amir predicts his younger sibling will be a success, the occasion will regardless provide an additional challenge on top of that to which he is accustomed.

'I probably will be a bit nervous,' said Khan, an experienced former world champion and Olympic silver medallist. 'But I know how to control them – I go into fights myself and I've got 10 or 15 years of training so I think I'll know exactly how to control my nerves.

'I'll probably [watch Haroon's fight] in the changing rooms, but if it's early I might be ringside.

'I think he'll be fine to be honest with you, he's been training very hard and I'm very confident in him. At the weight class he's at I don't think there are many fighters with his skill or ability.

'He's been pushing himself. I can give him advice here and there but I don't have to because he's doing everything okay.'

In the same way Khan trusts Manchester-based trainer Oliver Harrison to guide his younger brother's career as he did his own, the light welterweight – though he is to fight Diaz at a non-championship weight of 143lbs – is trusting his family to organise his entire wedding and has revealed he doesn't even know what it is he has agreed to for the big day, such is his focus on April 27.
